For Sidetrack, 2021 was a year of adaptation and rethinking; of maturity and collective openness, honesty, empathy and above all stoicism in each of our days. Throughout this year we did and imagined many things for the first time. We adopt new formulas and technologies, we listen to new voices and instincts; something that without a doubt we all needed to establish a deep relationship with the future we dream of.

The wall that divides unilateral communication from interactive fell with the emergence of the Internet and we became active players for brands and digital platforms. Empowering a community that needs visibility and not advertising campaigns that tell them how, where and what to buy. That is why in the digital world, users set the rules and brands must learn to use them in their favor.

We’ve created this special report with the purpose of discussing one of the most basic aspects in the creative industry, by presenting proposals that focus on creating emotional connections with people and transcending their lives through their senses. The graphic design team at Sidetrack has set out to study the global context, seeking to understand how the world currently interacts with its environment and which factors affect its behavior.

During the Middle Ages, it was believed that spontaneous generation was the root of life, that cats were earthly ambassadors of the darkness, and that disease was a divine punishment. The human race experienced a (partial) eclipse that lasted for almost a thousand years. But it survived.

We’re living through History. 2020 is a year that will be remembered for many more. So many things have happened, it’s hard to count them all. There is one thing that’s safe to say: it’s been a year of changes. Changes in the way we interact, communicate, amuse ourselves, relate and experience the world. 2020 is a year that will last for more than 365 days. It will remain with us, and it’s better to swim with the current than against it.
